I. Microrec Series
Microrec is ALSTOM’s core I/O platform for power automation, with the K4.1 series currently being the mainstream. This series of cards supports multiple functions such as analog input, analog output, digital input, digital output, and pulse counting. It features high channel density, with a single card configurable from 8 to 32 channels. The power supply voltage is typically 24VDC, and hot-swappable is supported. The communication interface supports protocols such as MODBUS and PROFIBUS, and can be connected to GEM80 or MVS3000 systems. Typical models include L54E1100EC00, L54E1100CZ, and L54E1200EC00, where the suffix “EC” usually indicates an analog output card, and “CZ” usually indicates a digital input card.
II. GEM80 Series
The GEM80 is ALSTOM’s early power plant DCS system I/O platform, primarily used for process control in coal-fired and gas-fired power plants. This series of cards includes AI (analog input), AO (analog output), DI (digital input), DO (digital output), and SOE (event sequence recorder) cards. The cards use modular DIN rail mounting and front connector wiring. Communication with the controller is via the GEM80 dedicated bus. This series has been gradually replaced by the Microrec series, but it is still widely used in existing power plants.
III. MVS3000 Series
The MVS3000 is ALSTOM’s control platform for rail transit and substation automation. Its I/O cards include DI digital input cards, DO digital output cards, AI analog input cards, AO analog output cards, RTD resistance temperature detector (RTD) input cards, and TC thermocouple input cards. This series of cards is compact, supports redundant configurations, and is suitable for signal acquisition scenarios with high safety requirements.
IV. ALSPA Series
ALSPA is ALSTOM’s I/O platform specifically developed for substation automation. Card models include ALSPA VF 4006 B. This series supports AC sampling, switch signal acquisition, and control output functions, complies with the IEC 61850 substation communication standard, and is widely used in power grid automation upgrade projects.
V. Core Functional Features
Signal Types: Supports 4 to 20 mA current signals, 0 to 10 V voltage signals, analog inputs such as thermocouples and RTDs, and digital outputs such as relay outputs, transistor outputs, and pulse outputs.
Environmental Adaptability: The cards feature an industrial-grade design, typically operating within a temperature range of -20°C to +70°C. They are vibration-resistant and electromagnetic interference-resistant, meeting the stringent environmental requirements of power plants and petrochemical plants.
Communication Interface: Communicates with the main control system via a backplane bus or fieldbus (such as Modbus, Profibus, etc.) to achieve real-time data transmission.
Redundancy Design: In critical application scenarios, the I/O cards support hot-standby redundancy configurations, ensuring system uninterrupted operation in the event of a single card failure.
VI. General Technical Features
ALSTOM I/O cards possess the following characteristics: Wide operating temperature range, typically -20°C to +70°C. Strong vibration resistance, suitable for power plant and rail transit environments. Supports hot-swapping. Features channel isolation design, with electrical isolation between analog and digital channels. Some cards support the HART protocol, allowing direct connection to intelligent transmitters. Card status indicator lights visually display information such as channel faults, communication faults, and power supply faults.
