The IS420UCECH1B-A quad-core controller is another version of the UCSC controller. It features a quad-core processor running on a 1.2 GHz AMD G-Series processor. Designed by General Electric for the Mark VIe series, it is the primary controller mentioned in the GEH-6855 Volume 2 manual and is described as a real-time hypervisor controller with support for the QNX Neutrino multitasking operating system. The QNX operating system is designed for high-reliability, high-speed industrial applications. Another technology used on this controller is Embedded Field Agent (EMA), which helps run Predix cloud applications and potentially web applications over a stable connection. All of these work together to transmit real-time data to the connected controller.

Unlike other controllers in the Mark VIe series, which utilize a backplane for all input and output, the IS420UCSCH1B controller does not utilize a backplane and does not host any I/O applications. The software and hardware architecture of this controller ensures that no application input points are lost if the controller must be shut down for repair or maintenance. The IS420UCECH1B-A controller features a variety of Ethernet ports, three of which are used for different redundancy applications. In TMR redundancy applications, all three ports are used, while in dual-redundancy applications, only the S/SL2 and R/SL1 ports are used. In all redundant applications, the ports use RJ45 connectors and 10Base-TX/100Vase-TX twisted-pair cabling.
1. Core Product Functions
- Signal Port Expansion: Expands the main controller’s I/O channels, increasing the number of analog and digital signal access points in the field;
- Local Independent Computation: Shares the main controller’s computational load, enabling closed-loop control of unit process parameters;
- System Communication Interaction: Interacts with Mark VIe/VIeS main controllers to transmit control commands and collect equipment operating data;
- Static Excitation System Compatibility: Works with the EX2100 excitation control system to manage generator excitation regulation signals;
- Real-time Data Transmission: Processes critical safety signals such as turbine speed, temperature, and pressure with low latency;
- Supplementary Notes: This model is explicitly stated to have known program defects in its static excitation system, and a corresponding maintenance avoidance plan is provided.

Picture/ Video Request
Buying equipment doesn’t always have to be a shot in the dark. We know there are plenty of differences when it comes to buy equipment aboard and quite often, choosing between different pieces is difficult, especially when the equipment is not sitting right in front of you.
Well, what if you were able to see a piece of equipment before you purchased it? Not just a picture from the manufacturer’s website, but the actual piece of equipment you would receive.
With video, we move you one step closer to inspecting the equipment you’re interested in without having to wait for the equipment to show up at your door.
Request to for the video to view the actual piece of equipment you’re interested in before purchasing. You can in close to see the labels with the serial number or the overall condition of the equipment.
It’s like having the store come to you!
