I. Product Introduction
The IS200VVIBH1CAB is a component designed by GE for the Mark VI system. Released by GE, Mark VI is one of the last gas and steam turbine management systems under the Speedtronic family name. The Speedtronic family began with the release of the Mark I system in the 1960s. Mark VI is an advanced turbine management system that includes Ethernet communication, triple redundancy for all critical controls, and an operator interface built using a Windows PC.
The IS200VVIBH1CAB provides I/O interfaces for external devices. The board communicates with these external devices using DSCB terminal blocks connected via its J6 or J7 front panel connectors. These connections can be made at baud rates up to 375 kbps, over distances up to 1,000 feet (RS-422 and RS-485) or 50 feet (RS-232C). For longer distances, a drag modem can be used for shorter distances.
The IS200VVIBH1CAB includes a narrow (single-slot) front panel. The board features three LED assemblies labeled “Failure,” “Run,” and “Status.” The panel also includes two cable connectors (J6 and J7).
A backplane connector is located on the rear edge of the board. It includes several other board connectors, primarily vertical pin connectors. The board comprises numerous resistors and capacitors, as well as over 40 integrated circuits, including an FPGA and an oscillator chip. The board has 19 jumper switches, including 18 three-position switches for various configuration applications. Two-position jumpers select between two external components. The board is marked with several codes, including 6BA01.
II. Functional Features
- High-speed serial bus communication ensures stable transmission of analog, digital, and fault diagnostic data from the unit, with low data latency.
- Built-in electrical isolation circuit isolates the unit from electromagnetic interference, preventing communication signal distortion and disconnection.
- Onboard dual-color status LED indicators clearly distinguish between normal communication, link fault, and abnormal power supply status.
- Supports parallel networking of multiple I/O boards, expanding the system’s signal collection and output channel capacity.
- Integrated hardware watchdog reset circuit automatically restarts the communication link when communication is interrupted, ensuring uninterrupted unit monitoring.
- Full board Conformal three-proof coating provides moisture, dust, and salt spray resistance, suitable for high-temperature and high-humidity industrial control cabinets.
- Perfectly compatible with GE ToolboxST configuration software, supporting online communication debugging, link diagnosis, and program download.
- Hardware backward compatible with the entire IS200 series racks; new and old units can be directly replaced without rack modification.

III. Usage and Operation
Usage Scenarios
Power Industry: Combined cycle gas-fired power plants, cogeneration, steam generator sets using Mark VI control systems;
Oil and Gas Industry: Natural gas pressurization stations, oilfield self-contained power generation, LNG liquefaction plant power monitoring systems;
Heavy Industry & Chemical Industry: Refineries, fertilizer plants, steel mills’ self-contained gas turbine control and communication units.
Standard Operation
After powering off the entire unit, insert the board vertically into the Mark VI standard rack slot and lock the locking clips;
Connect the communication cable to the board’s communication terminals, connecting the main control CPU to each I/O terminal board;
After powering on, observe the LED indicator lights. A solid green light indicates a normal link, while a flashing red light indicates a communication fault;
Connect to the host computer ToolboxST software to complete communication channel configuration, data reading and writing, and fault diagnosis;
During maintenance, disconnect the system power supply first, then unplug and plug in the board to avoid hot-swapping and damaging the communication chip.
IV. Design and Structure
Standardizes the IS200 series compact PCB standard, compatible with DIN standard industrial control racks, saving cabinet space;**
The entire board is coated with a three-proof protective coating, fully covering components and circuits to resist dust and moisture corrosion;
Integrates dedicated communication processing chips, isolation transformers, and voltage regulator circuits for integrated design;**
Industrial-grade pluggable terminal interfaces ensure secure wiring, vibration and loosening resistance, suitable for high-vibration conditions;
Onboard independent power supply circuit, wide voltage compatibility with cabinet power supplies, eliminating the need for a dedicated power supply module;
Standardized positioning clips allow for quick installation and removal, enabling single-person replacement and maintenance.
V. System Characteristics
Exclusively compatible with the GE Mark VI Speedtronic turbine control system; incompatible with other brands of controllers.
Supports single-layer and two-layer redundant system architectures, enabling uninterrupted communication switching in redundant configurations.
Communication links have a data verification mechanism for automatic error correction, preventing malfunctions caused by false signals.
Can be networked with the full range of IS200 I/O boards, including VATF, DSVO, and BPPC, expanding system functionality.
Comes with official GEH series documentation, supporting complete system architecture debugging and troubleshooting.
Industrial-grade long lifespan design; MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures) exceeds 400,000 hours, meeting the 24-hour continuous operation requirements of power plants.
Supports remote system diagnostics; communication logs and fault records can be remotely read via ToolboxST, reducing on-site maintenance costs.
